About Zahra
Hello there, welcome.
My journey to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own experiences of healing, self-discovery, and introspection. I believe in the lifelong journey of personal growth, a journey that is gentler and more meaningful when we are consciously engaged with it.
Unlike the stereotypical image of a passive therapist who simply nods while you share your deepest feelings, I take an active, dynamic role, posing probing questions to help you dig deeper into your inner wisdom. I make astute observations to help you see aspects of yourself that you may have overlooked.
I view the therapy space that I co-create with my clients as sacred and free from judgment. No conversations are off the table. It’s a sanctuary where you can express, process, and understand your emotions and experiences without fear or reservations.
Approaches
My main therapeutic approaches include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Ego-State Therapy (parts-work).
Background
My experience includes working with older adolescents and adults in different settings such as hospitals, prisons, community mental health, and group private practice in East Africa and the United States. In addition, I have supported professionals and organizations working working in hostile environments in the United States, Europe, Africa, and, the Middle East.
I support folks from different sexual orientations, body types, genders, religions, ethnicities, races and abilities.
Healing begins when we extend compassion to the parts of ourselves that feel the least deserving.
