All communication between clients and therapist remain confidential. However, there are limits to confidentiality. These exceptions include: 

• If a client intends to harm him/her/themselves,  I will work together with the client ensure that you receive the appropriate level of care. 
• If a client intends to inflict bodily harm to another person, I must notify the police and the intended victim.
• If there is suspected child or elderly abuse, I must notify the police and the relevant authorities immediately. 

Psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes long. A request for longer sessions can be made in advance. 

I use email or text for routine administrative concerns such as scheduling, canceling or rescheduling appointments. I am often not immediately available; however, I will attempt to return to you within 24 hours during the weekdays or 48 hours during the weekend.

Please note that face-to-face sessions are highly preferable to phone or text contact to discuss clinical concerns. Therefore, I will not respond to messages about clinical concerns outside of therapy due to confidentiality reasons. However, in the event that you are out of town, sick, or need additional support, video or telehealth sessions are available. If a true emergency situation arises, please visit your nearest local emergency room.

In the event of a cancellation, I request more than 48 hours notice. Appointment cancelled with less than 48 hours notice is subject to the full fee.  This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. It would be difficult to fill your appointment slot within short notice. Please note that insurance does not reimburse for cancellation fees. Therefore, these charges will be entirely your responsibility. 

I understand that on rare occasions emergencies do occur. In these circumstances we can discuss the best time to reschedule the appointment, or find an alternate time during week.

Payment of services can be made via cash or M-PESA. Fee is payable before each session. A billing receipt will be issued through your client portal. If you require to make a claim to insurance, a statement of reimbursement will be issued upon request.

If you require additional services such as report writing, preparation of records or treatment summaries, attendance to meetings with other professionals, telephone calls lasting more than 15 minutes, or any other professional service, a professional fee will be charged. 

If your account has not been paid for more than 60 days and arrangements for payment have not been agreed upon, we have the option of using legal means to secure the payment. In most collection situations, the only information released includes the client’s name, nature of services provided, and the amount due.

Periodically, fees will be increased; no more than once per year. Clients will be informed in advance of any changes in fees.

I currently do not provide or perform evaluations for custody, visitation, or other forensic matters. Furthermore, I cannot and will not provide any testimony or reports regarding parental fit, custody schedules, or other legal or administrative proceedings

Ending relationships can be difficult. Therefore, it is important to have a termination process in order to achieve some closure. The appropriate length of the termination depends on the length and intensity of the treatment. Treatment may be terminated after an appropriate discussion with you

You have a right to terminate treatment at any time. In order to facilitate a smooth termination or transition process, an advanced notice is requested. If you request another therapist, I will provide you with a list of qualified psychotherapists who can continue to support your needs. You may also choose someone on your own or from another referral source.

Should you fail to schedule an appointment for two consecutive weeks, unless other arrangements have been made in advance, for legal and ethical reasons, I must consider the professional relationship discontinued.
