Anxiety Therapy New Jersey

What brings you to therapy?

You might notice:

  • Replaying conversations or decisions and questioning whether you got something wrong.

  • Thinking through possible problems and struggling to leave things unresolved.

  • Feeling tense, restless, or unable to switch off.

  • Avoiding situations because of what might happen or how you might feel.

  • Seeking reassurance, feeling briefly relieved, then finding yourself worrying again.

You may still be managing work and daily responsibilities while spending considerable time and energy trying to keep anxiety under control.

When worry takes up more time

Planning ahead, staying alert, or considering other people’s reactions may feel necessary to prevent mistakes or disappointment. It can be difficult to loosen these habits when they seem to be helping you stay prepared.

We can explore what you are afraid might happen, how you respond to that fear, and whether those responses are helping or leaving you more caught up in worry.

How we might work together

We begin with how anxiety affects your daily life and what you would like to be different. Together, we look at situations that bring it on, the thoughts and physical sensations that accompany it, and what you do to manage it.

Our work may include finding ways to respond to anxious thoughts, manage physical tension, and gradually approach situations you have been avoiding. We can also explore whether past experiences, expectations of yourself, or difficulties in relationships contribute to your anxiety. What we focus on depends on your experience and what is helping as we go.

What we might work towards

Your goals might include:

  • Spending less time caught in worry or replaying interactions.

  • Making decisions with less checking and reassurance.

  • Participating more fully in situations you have been avoiding.

  • Feeling more able to handle uncertainty and recover when anxiety rises.

We will identify what meaningful change would look like for you. You do not have to eliminate anxiety to have more choice in how you live.

When you're ready.
