Online Therapy
What Is Online Therapy?
Online therapy, also known as teletherapy, is a convenient way to access professional mental health support from the comfort of your home. Sessions are conducted via secure video platforms using a computer, laptop, or mobile device ensuring privacy while allowing for meaningful and effective work together.
Is Online Therapy Effective?
Yes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as in-person therapy for many mental health concerns. Research indicates that teletherapy is particularly beneficial for treating anxiety, depression, and trauma-related issues, with outcomes comparable to face-to-face sessions (Krzyzaniak et al., 2024; Osenbach et al., 2013; Sloan et al., 2011). Teletherapy also offers added convenience and accessibility, which can improve engagement and consistency in treatment (Pruitt et al., 2014).
Would I benefit From Online Therapy?
Online therapy might be an excellent option if:
- You value flexibility and prefer sessions from the comfort of your home or office.
- You face challenges accessing in-person sessions due to location, mobility, or scheduling.
- You value privacy and discretion.
- You’re comfortable using technology for secure video sessions.
Online therapy may not be ideal if:
- You require immediate, in-person support.
- You lack a private space to talk during sessions.
- You feel more comfortable connecting face-to-face in an office setting.
In a nutshell, you don’t need to share the same physical space to feel truly connected and engaged with a therapist. Together, we will work to cultivate a sense of presence that closely mirrors what you’d experience in a therapy room. I will create a warm and inviting space, meeting you with genuine curiosity and interest. If you can join me, free from distractions, I’m confident you’ll find the experience meaningful.
How Does Online Therapy Work?
- Contact: Reach out through the website’s contact form to schedule an appointment date and time.
- Initial Setup: After booking and completing intake forms, you will receive a Google Meet video link to a secure video platform for your sessions. No special equipment is needed—just a laptop, tablet or mobile phone with stable internet access, a camera, and a microphone. If we encounter any connectivity issues that we cannot resolve in a reasonable amount of time, we will complete the session via phone.
- Preparing Your Space: Choose a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable and free from interruptions. Good lighting and a stable surface for your device can help create an optimal environment.
- Session Time: At the scheduled time, join the session through the provided link. Sessions typically last 50- minutes and follow the same structure as in-person therapy.
